Dolphin Encounter in Kaikoura was the very first dolphin swim operator to offer dolphin tours in New Zealand. It all started 16 years ago and from small beginnings has grown to become an extremely popualr activity for visitors. Advance bookings for swimming are absolutely essential as the permits that allow us to operate commercialy with the dolphins limit the swimmer numbers on each tour to just 13. This is a good thing because it means that the group size of swimmers is small and you will experience a quality encounter with the dolphins. All equipment is provided for you from full wetsuits to snorkeliing gear. Just bring a towel, swimsuit, warm clothes and of course your camera. Your personal experience will begin with a briefing from your tandem pilot on everything that is required.

The experience can be broken into three sections:
1. Orientation
